Here's a video that music teachers in Fulton County made for all of you, our beloved students. You'll see me (Mrs. Trude) in the second row, left side. Enjoy! "Here Comes the Sun" or try this link.
Last 2 weeks of school:
Complete any of the past assignments that you have not done, OR:
Open this page for fun music activities that I have found for you that are on the internet.
Week of May 4-8: (last week of new lessons)
1. Sing "America the Beautiful" with me on this video.
2. Remember "Down By the Bay" from last week? Check out this new video and sing with me some of the new words that Heards Ferry 1st-graders thought of.
Next week will be a "catch up" week to give you a chance to catch up on all the assignments that you haven't been able to complete yet, so there will be no new lesson. I will post some fun enrichment activities.
Week of April 27 - May 1:
1. Today I am going to share with you a piece of music called "Spring." Grab your favorite stuffed animal, watch my video and enjoy!
2. Learn a new song with Mrs. Trude! It's called "Down By the Bay." Here is the video.
You are invited to think of some new words for this song! (This is explained in the video.) You can submit your lyrics to me on Seesaw. Your lyrics should rhyme. For example, "Did you ever see a pig, wearing a wig, down by the bay."
- On your laptop or desktop, go to Classlink and log on using your Fulton County email information
- Select SeeSaw
- Click on your name on the left top corner to see the drop-down menu and select the music folder. It should have my name (Mrs. Trude) on it. Submit your lyrics there.
- If you have any trouble, email Mrs. Trude at [email protected]
Week of April 20-24:
1. Today you can watch the rest of "Peter and the Wolf." (If you didn't see the first half last week, go to last week's lesson, below.) Here is the 15-minute video, which begins right after the wolf eats the duck. (You may have to log on using your student ID # and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.)
2. If you have time, try this quiz on "Peter and the Wolf." You can print it out and do the matching. If you like, share your work with me on Seesaw. Also, here is the answer sheet, so you can check your work.
To access Seesaw:
- On your laptop or desktop, go to Classlink and log on using your Fulton County email information.
- Select SeeSaw
- Click on your name on the left top corner to see the drop-down menu and select the music folder. It should have my name (Mrs. Trude) on it. Upload a picture of your matching quiz on there.
Week of April 13-17:
1. Sing along with me on "Boil Them Cabbage Down" by clicking on this video.
2. Do you remember the story of "Peter and the Wolf"? I found a wonderful video of it. The conductor of the orchestra tells the story while the instruments play. Today you will watch the first half of "Peter and the Wolf." I'll share the rest of it with you next week. Here is the video. (You may have to log on using your student ID # and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.)
Week of March 30 - April 3
1. Sing along with "America the Beautiful" by watching this video. (You may have to log on using your student ID# and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.) Show somebody in your family how well you know this song.
2. Go for a listening walk. Choose a place for your listening walk (around the house, yard or neighborhood.) Walk silently and see how many things you can hear. If you are very quiet, you will hear a lot of things! When you finish, tell somebody in your house at least 5 things that you heard.
Week of March 23-27
1. Watch this video. Sing along with me on "Now Let Me Fly." Can you sing it to a family member? Can you explain why the African-American slaves made up this song? What were they singing about?
2. Explore the ChromeLab for MelodyMaker at this link. Click the squares on the grid to add high and low pitches, then click on the arrow to play it back. Click on your melody to erase or change it. You can change the tempo (speed), too. Can you make a great song?
Week of March 17-20
1. Listen to this new version of "Boil Them Cabbage Down" in Safari Montage. You may have to log on using your student ID # and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage. Can you sing along with the refrain? ("Boil them cabbage down boys...")
OR
2. Explore the ChromeLab for rhythm at this link.
Move the dots, x's or other shapes, then click the arrow to listen to your rhythm.
