NEW: Have you seen our HFE chorus video of "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman? You won't want to miss it... here it is: HFE Chorus Video
Here's a video that music teachers in Fulton County made for all of you, our beloved students. You'll see me (Mrs. Trude) in the second row, left side. Enjoy! "Here Comes the Sun" or try this link.
If you have a ukulele, navigate to the "ukulele" page under Music for uke practice! I've added the A minor chord (super-easy!) and some new ukulele songs. (But still do your assignment as well, see below.)

Week of May 4-8: (last week for new lessons)
This week, you will get to interview a member of your family and learn about music in their life.
Interview an adult family member in your house (or call an adult in your family on the phone/video) and ask them about their favorite music.
Ask them the questions (listed below) and listen carefully to their answers. When you have finished, share with them what your favorite music is and play or sing one of your songs for them!
I would love to hear about your interview experience. Share with me on FlipGrid! Here is the code for accessing the FlipGrid to share some of the answers you got. Here's the QR code:
Interview Questions:
What is your favorite type of music?
Why do you like this style?
Who is your favorite musician?
Have you ever seen your favorite musician in a concert or ever heard your favorite kind of music in person?
How did you listen to music as a child (Radio, records, 8 track tapes, cassette tapes, CDs)?
Do you play an instrument?
Do you know of anyone else in our family who plays an instrument?
What was the first music you ever purchased to listen to or play on an instrument?
Can you play or sing one of your favorite songs for me?
Next week will be a "catch up" week to give you a chance to catch up on all the assignments that you haven't been able to complete yet, so there will be no new lesson. I will post some fun enrichment activities.
Week of April 27 - May 1:
Today's lesson is in Quaver. Log into Quavermusic.com with your username and password. (first and last name, birthdate) (If you have not yet signed up for a Quaver account, scroll down to the directions in red further down this page.)
Once you are logged in, click on "Assignments", then click on "5th grade April 27 - May 1."
You will be doing the following:
1. Note-naming practice
2. Label the sections of a pop song. (Hopefully you watched last week's powerpoint video introducing you to popular song form.) You can submit your answer sheet to me on Seesaw or as an email attachment.
IMPORTANT! For each Quaver screen read my Instructions in the white box so you know what to do.
To submit on SeeSaw:

b. Watch a powerpoint video where I demonstrate the elements of a typical pop song.
c. View a video of an awesome song demonstrating the parts of a song.
Week of April 13-17:

c. Once you get into Quaver with your account, click on "Assignments" and then click on "April 13-17". Read my instructions and do the activity.
Week of March 30 - April 3:
This week, we are finishing our blues unit. You have two options for today's assignment. Be sure to complete one of them and turn in your work according to the directions.
OPTION ONE: If you wrote a blues verse last week and submitted it to me, you have the option of making a video performance of yourself singing your verse. (If you forgot your verse, email me at [email protected]
and I'll send it to you.) Go to this link on FlipGrid to see a video of me explaining the assignment, and respond with a video.
OPTION TWO: Watch this awesome 10-minute video on blues. It covers everything I want you to know about blues music. (You may need to log on using your student ID# and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.)
After you watch the video, take this quiz (required).
Week of March 24-27:
1. Watch this 2-minute video of a blues song. (You may need to log on using your student ID# and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.) As you watch, do the following:
On the word "woke", begin counting the beats. (1 2 3 4 2 2 3 4 3 2 3 4 4 2 3 4 and keep going until you complete 12 bars.) Notice that she sings the same lyrics again for the second verse, but changes it up a little.
2. Write one verse of your own blues song. Make sure your verse:
* Talks about something that gives you the blues.
* Has three lines of lyrics and the first two lines are the same or almost the same.
* Rhymes if you want it to (not required.) Usually the rhyme would happen at the ends of the lines.
* Would fit the music of 12-bar blues. You could try singing it with this background music to see if it goes. (And even play along on your ukulele if you have one. I is C, IV is F and V7 is G7)
(Here is my example: Well I'm stuck inside and it's rainin' everywhere.
Oh yeah I'm stuck inside and it's rainin' everywhere.
Wanna play with my dog, but she don't even care.)
3. (Important- this is required.) Send me your verse on this quick survey. Also, save your verse because you are going to do something else with it next week.
Week of March 17-20 and March 23:
Hello, all! We are going to continue learning about blues music.
1. Using ClassLink, login to BrainPop and watch the video on BLUES. Then, take the 10-question quiz. (I do NOT need you to submit your quiz results to me; you will receive a different assignment next week for a grade.)

OR
2. IF you have your own ukulele, practice a 12-bar blues pattern with this video. (I is C, IV is F and V7 is G7.) (Make sure your uke is in tune before you start! Green Cats Eat Ants) You may have to log on using your student ID # and Fulton password to get into Safari Montage.
